God is so AWESOME!!!!

So, last Friday we had a follow up for the boys up at Childrens Hospital. We have been followed by a nephrologist (kidney doc) since Ethan was 9 months old for his HUS, and since Chase was 6 months. All along I had thought that both boys had Von Willebrand's disease. Come to find out Chase does NOT have it, and Ethan has a partial. Not real sure what partial means, but it is better than really having it...right? Along with that, their blood pressure meds did not have to be increase, for the first time EVER, and we don't have to go back for a year!!!! A YEAR!!!!! I can't even believe it!! We have never ever ever got to go so long between follow ups. The boys are doing awesome and it has been 5 years since their big hospitilization.

The most amazing part is that the doctors had told us, at one point, that Ethan would probably need a kidney transplant before Kindergarten if he continued to have HUS episodes like he had been. Now here he is finishing up 2nd grade and his kidney function is PERFECT!!!!!! 5 years ago when they were in the hospital, Chase's kidneys had failed...were not working AT ALL!!! Here he is going into kindergarten and his kidneys are PERFECT!!!! This is amazing. God is so good!!!!!

The other cool thing is that they are doing LOTS of research on this wacky disease. We have to go see Hematology about it next. Our nephrologist, Dr. Van Why (the nicest man) wants us to go see them because he thinks they will have some info for us that is out of his expertise. So pray for that appointment...who knows maybe they will get this all figured out sooner than they thought. Th hard part is that they don't know where it sits on the DNA, so they can't "test" for it or tell you where it is coming from!

The other cool thing is that we took a HUGE leap of faith in getting pregnant again & having Rowan!! so far she has shown ZERO signs of HUS and for that we are thankful!!! I'm so glad we jumped!!!
